Okay, This is something I've been working on for about 5 days. I mainly started it to sketch out a concept critter that I can't stop doodling, and I wanted this to be a more solid design for it. He came to be about 2-3 weeks ago, when I started my new sketching method, and wanted to do something conceptual and different. I like the design of him. If I name him, I'll change the title of the deviation. Suggestions are welcome.
Features: The canine teeth: They are retractable and fold up into the space above the top teeth. If I were to design his skull, the canine teeth would be attached by ligaments and muscles in the snout, and when this critter would use the canines, the teeth would slide into an slot in the top jaw, securing them in the skull. The function of the teeth fueled his design. The lips: I added in the long lip extensions, for the design overall, but I view them as something to protect the lower jaw from the long canine teeth. The Neck depression: It really serves no purpose other then its a personal aesthetic choice, its something I've always drawn on weird critters. Another concept critter I've done in the past that has a depression in the neck
<- Super old. The eyes: They were something I added to make this critter appear more bizarre and alien-like. The ridges on the top of the neck were another aesthetic choice, and were the final result design after 3 other attempts.
This serves as a sort of declaration of the beginning of a drastic change for me and my goals and what I want from my art. I "have to wake up and be all that I could be." [link]
